Motown.

Mark Steyn:
"As I said on Rush, unlike European cities, no bombs fell on Detroit. They did this to themselves. And the real rubble is not the ruined buildings, but the ruined people. This is an American city at the dawn of the 21st century, and one in two of its citizens are illiterate. That’s about the same rate as the Ivory Coast, or the Central African Republic, under its aforementioned cannibal emperor. Whereas in the Seventies and Eighties Detroit was ruled by a Democrat mayor, a bureaucracy-for-life, and an ever more featherbedded union army, all of whom cannibalized the city. Say what you like about Emperor Bokassa but, dollar for dollar, his reign was a bargain compared to Mayor Coleman Young’s"

In Case You Thought Orange is a Safe Colour

Notes from the NDP Consitution:

"That the production and distribution of goods and services shall be directed to meeting the social and individual needs of people within a sustainable environment and economy and not to the making of profit;

"To modify and control the operations of the monopolistic productive and distributive organizations through economic and social planning. Towards these ends and where necessary, the extension of the principle of social ownership….

"The New Democratic Party is proud to be associated with the democratic socialist parties of the world and to share the struggle for peace, international co-operation and the abolition of poverty.

Is the song, "Kung Fu Fighting" Racist?

Apparently. Here's the offensive song. Ezra Levant has some good commentary here.

One wonders how many real crimes are left uninvestigated while the police are busy with this stuff.

A PC Easter

Easter. Eggs. These two words, joined together, create an unbiblical concept. It's not Easter, but the resurrection we celebrate. So why this?

Contest!

I need a logo for the Safety Police! The ideal Safety Police logo will include the name of the blog, and something to illustrate either the freedoms listed in the previous post, or the absurdities we wish to expose.

The winner will receive a double-dangerous prize: a very sharp pencil!

If you don't "get" this, you be happier at this site: http://www.ontario.ca/en/residents/index.htm. Hanging around here might help you understand why places like California and Ontario are also known as Permitistan.

Welcome to the Safety Police!

Ok, this is more of a rant blog. If you are tired of self-appointed experts determining every area of minutea of your and your family's life, you may have found a friend here.

This is a place to expose the complete stupidity of officialdom, and your storys are welcome. The usual blog caveats apply, and this blog is moderated.

I believe in freedom of speech, expression, conscience, religion, and thought. As a Christian, I believe that there is an absolute right and wrong, and I do not counsel anyone to cross God's boundaries. I also think that since most Westerners have their moral compass laying too close to rare earth, we have become a paraoid socieity, and accept the regulation of almost everything, include the aforementioned freedoms.

So I believe in freedom of behaviour, insofar as we are willing to take responsibility for our behaviour! So, you do have the right to do stupid and dangerous things, as long as you have the liabilty, health, disability and life insurnace to cover it!

What bothers me most, though, is that many normal activities are now forbidden, in the name of "safety." Hence, The Safety Police!
